I am a licensed, experienced math teacher offering private, customized math tutoring for middle school, high school and college level math courses.
I am passionate about helping students with their study of mathematics. I know that everyone can be successful in math and I am the right person to help.

My goal, in working with students, is to help them build confidence, skills and strategies that can be used in current and future math classes. My down to earth nature and honest interest in my students enable me to build relationships based on trust and respect. I believe that if I am to truly help a student, I must first get to know them so I may understand and appreciate them as the unique individual that they are.

My years as a classroom teacher have given me the opportunity to work with students from a wide variety of backgrounds, skill levels and attitudes about math. This, along with hours of professional development, has helped me to expand my techniques as a teacher and better understand my students. I am able to explain math concepts in more than one way until we find the explanation that turns the light-bulb on.

Math teaches problem solving skills in a way that no other subject does and these skills are used in many academic pursuits, careers & consumer applications. I teach students how to break apart a complex problem into manageable pieces. We analyze each part, choose an appropriate strategy and explore methods to assess the reasonableness

Math builds upon itself. Gaps in a student's knowledge can cause far reaching problems that often cannot be addressed in a classroom setting. These problems not only make things more difficult as a student progresses in coursework but undermines a students' self confidence in tackling new material. I can identify gaps and remediate where needed to help your student build necessary skills and confidence in their abilities.
